Under the DWNA Health and Wellbeing Strategies, we continue to strengthen our commitment to community-led, culturally responsive health promotion.
Building on the success of our Cervical and Breast Cancer Prevention initiatives (Health Check and OWN IT Project 2024–2025), DWNA is now delivering community awareness and navigation sessions for Bowel Cancer Screening across Melbourne.
Target group: Adults aged 45–59 years (all genders), with eligibility from 45 to 74 years
Focus: Improving awareness, access, and participation in bowel cancer screening through trusted community engagement
Our impact so far:
Reached 400+ community members through the OWN IT Project
Supported 61 women to participate in cervical screening through Community Camps
Facilitated 196 women to access breast screening services (many for the first time)
Through this strategic approach, we aim to reduce health inequities, enhance early detection, and empower communities to take proactive steps toward better health outcomes.
